In vitro fertilization (IVF)

In vitro fertilization (IVF)

Having a baby is every couple's dream. But sometimes, unfortunately, having a baby is not that easy for some reasons. At this point, In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) application plays a saving role, especially for couples experiencing infertility problems.

In Vitro Fertilization Process

The IVF treatment process, which consists of several stages, is applied according to the person's ovarian capacity, body mass index, age and genetic characteristics.

Preliminary Interview Stage

The first of the IVF application stages, which lasts several weeks, is the Preliminary Interview Stage. At this stage, couples who want to have children are interviewed and the aim is to provide information about infertility to the expectant mother and father. The prospective mother and father are informed by explaining the causes of infertility and performing some tests.

Couples' sperm analysis tests, uterine films are requested, and if they have had any infertility treatment process before, blood tests and reports regarding the tests are requested. This will make it easier to learn more about the patient and help the treatment process proceed more accurately. Finally, if the expectant mother and father have a smear test, the results of the test they have previously taken are requested, the causes of infertility are reviewed and appropriate treatment is started.

Egg Stimulation Phase

In the second stage, the expectant mother is called for an interview by her doctor. The aim at this stage is to evaluate the ovaries of the expectant mother on the second or third day of her menstrual period. The expectant mother's ovaries are evaluated with ultrasound. Depending on the results, the doctor may ask for hormone levels to be checked. As a result of all these, drug treatment is started and the aim is to stimulate the ovaries to ensure the development of the ovaries.

Egg Collection Phase

The third stage is the collection of eggs. This stage is of critical importance for the expectant mother. If it is observed that the egg developed with drugs has reached sufficient maturity, it is removed from the uterus by injection and this process is carried out under general anesthesia. Eggs taken from the uterus are fertilized using the traditional In Vitro Fertilization method or the method we call microinjection.

Embryo Transfer Stage

This stage begins with the monitoring of embryo development. The embryo development process of the eggs and sperm taken to the laboratory is monitored and embryos with high proficiency in this process are selected. The selected embryos are placed into the uterus by a specialist doctor. As a result of the determined law, double embryos must be placed in women over the age of 35, and single embryos must be placed in women under this age. The expectant mother rests after the embryo transfer, which is completely painless. After resting for about an hour, the expectant mother can continue her life from where she left off.

Supportive Treatment Phase

This is the stage where supportive medications are given to the expectant mother and the embryo is enabled to attach more strongly to the uterus. The expectant mother is given an appointment for the HCG Test after 15 days.
